SANTA ROSA — Braden Vaughn scored 20 points, including a pair of free throws with four seconds left, as Texico rallied to beat Santa Rosa 47-44 Thursday in the semifinals of the District 6-2A boys basketball tournament.
Josh Pena added seven points and Bryce Bailey scored all six of his points in the fourth quarter as the Wolverines (21-5) rallied from a 13-point deficit in the second half.
Texico, which earned a trip to next week’s regional with their second win in two days, plays at Clayton at 6 p.m. Saturday for the district title.
Tomas Gonzales led Santa Rosa (15-12) with 13 points.

Elida 52, Melrose 39
ELIDA — Halee Best scored 13 points, and Elida moved on to Saturday’s District 3-1A championship Thursday night with a 52-39 win over Melrose.
Casey Ford scored 11 points and Kodi Armitage added nine for Elida (15-10), which faces top seed Fort Sumner Saturday in a 3 p.m. contest.
“It was a big game for us tonight,” Elida coach Dan Howard said. “Our team stepped up and played really well. The girls who came off the bench played strong tonight.”
Jessica Hale and Audrey Hemminger scored 13 points each for Melrose.
