ELIDA — Halee Best scored 13 points, and Elida moved on to Saturday’s District 3-1A championship Thursday with a 52-39 win over Melrose.
Casey Ford scored 11 points and Kodi Armitage added nine for Elida (15-10), which faces top seed Fort Sumner Saturday in a 3 p.m. contest.
“It was a big game for us tonight,” Elida coach Dan Howard said. “Our team stepped up and played really well. The girls who came off the bench played strong tonight.”
Jessica Hale and Audrey Hemminger scored 13 points each for Melrose.
Boys
Fort Sumner 55, Dora 41
FORT SUMNER — Gerid Higgins led three in double figures with 13 points, and the host Foxes never looked back after a 32-18 first half.
Stephen Gallegos and Ryan Fikany each added 10 for Fort Sumner (14-14), which plays tonight at Melrose. The winner will move on to the district championship Saturday at Floyd.
J.R. Gonzales scored 14 points, while Tyler Wilhoit added 11 for the Coyotes. Dora finished its season 7-17.
