Dora beats Floyd in first round

DORA — Kassandra Clark scored 15 points to lead three in double figures, and the Dora Lady Coyotes moved on to the second round of the District 3-1A tournament with a 47-34 win over Floyd Monday night.

Jaci Sant scored 12 points and D’Shawn Pettigrew had 11 for the Lady Coyotes, who will travel to Melrose on Wednesday night.

Floyd (11-14) stayed close with Dora, which won the first meeting at Dora 40-15.

“They were definitely well-prepared and they hit their shots to start the game,” Dora coach Bill Stockton said. “They were up two (17-15) at the half. I told the kids that the first 3:00 of the third quarter was gong to be really important.”

Dora outscored Floyd 18-6 in the third, paving the way for the double-figure win.

Cindy Andrade led Floyd with 11 points, while Darcee Chenault added eight.
