Carrie Young, 77, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Retirement Ranch in Clovis.
She was born May 9, 1926, in Oakhurst, Texas, to Muriel Lucille and James Coleman Dulaney. She married Rayford Young on May 7, 1969, in Fort Worth, Texas.
She grew up in the Houston, Texas, area with several siblings and attended school in Spendora, Texas. She and her husband moved to Portales in 1969.
She was a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9515 Women’s Auxiliary, where she had been active and supportive. She was an active member of the Portales Church of the Nazarene and was a loving wife and mother, family members said. Her hobbies included fishing and animals and breeding Chihuahuas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who died March 15, 1987; a daughter, Lillian Talley; an infant son, Travis Ray Hunter Jr; and a step-son, Joe Young.
Survivors include three sons, Martin Fulcher (and wife Gail) of Cleveland, Texas, Jerry Hoffa of Arlington, Texas, and Travis Hunter (and Cindy) of Seven Points, Texas; three stepsons, Mike Young of Arlington, Don Young of New York, and Steve Young (and Kathy) of Portland, Ore.; three daughters, Velma Webb (and Billy) of Morgan, Texas, Shirley Blackburn (and Bob) of Arlington and Carrie “Sissy” Bogaski of Arlington; her mother-in-law, Annie Williams, of Clovis; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Darryl Tennefos will officiate at the service. Burial will be in the Grady Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are the staff of Retirement Ranch in Clovis.
