Mrs. Lorene Davis Shoup, 89, of Cotati, Calif., a retired school teacher, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, in Petaluna, Calif.
She was born on May 23, 1914, in Clarendon, Texas, to Emmet and Ellen Whitaker Davis.
She graduated from Ranchvale High School in 1932. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Highland University in 1936 and a master’s degree from SMU in 1938. She taught at Grady in 1937, Ranchvale in 1939 and Lovington in 1940 and moved to California in 1957. She married David Shoup on May 30, 1943, in Clovis. She was a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church in Clovis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Christine Davis; and a brother, Loran Davis.
Survivors include her husband, David L. Shoup of Cotati, Calif.; two sons, David E. Shoup (and wife, Carol) of Hawaii and Robert C. Shoup (Elizabeth) of Cotati, Calif.; a daughter, Linda Shoup of Cotati, Calif.; a sister, Viva Davis of Clovis; three brothers, Verlon Davis of Artesia, L.E. "Pete" Davis of Clovis and Jack Davis of Roswell; and five grandchildren.
