Librada Tafoya, 97, of Clovis died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.

She was born on Feb. 20, 1906, in Galisto to Dionicio and Francisco Ortiz Montoya.

She married Procopio Tafoya on Oct. 30, 1930, in Carrizozo. She was a homemaker and had lived in Roswell for 24 years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Family members said she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Albert Trujillo; a daughter, Eva Martinez; two sisters; and a brother.

Survivors include two sons, Tom Tafoya (and wife, Lillian) of Bakersfield, Calif., and Candido Tafoya (Isabel) of Portales; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-great-grandchildren.

A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Roswell.

The Rev. Juan Montoya will officiate the services.

Burial will be at South Park Cemetery in Roswell.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie, Thomas, Robert, Pat, and Tammie Tafoya and Herman Martinez.

Arrangements are by LaGrone Funeral Chapel and Crematory of Roswell.
