Padilla, Felipe

Felipe Abenicio Padilla, 94, of Clovis died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.

He was born Aug. 23, 1909, in Cuervo “Conant,” N.M., to Vences Lado and Cirilia Padilla. He married Leanor Maez on Oct. 11, 1937, in Santa Rosa. They came to Clovis in 1944, and he worked as a laborer in ranching and farming. He later worked for the Clovis Schools where he later retired. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community.

Survivors include his wife Leanor Padilla of Clovis; four sons, Alfonso (and wife Rosalia) Padilla, Pat Padilla, and Eddie (Berta) Padilla, all of Clovis, and Conrad (Betty) Padilla of Albuquerque; five daughters, Gloria (Chris) Sanchez, Tina (Jimmy) Romero and Loraine Padilla, all of Clovis, Christine (Ralph) Torres of Plant City, Fla., and Janet Padilla of Satellite Beach, Fla.; 34 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Angelina Garcia; a brother, Roman Padilla; two sisters, Antonia Padilla and Deluvina Chavez; a great-grandson, Ralph Torres; and two great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be wais at 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community.

The Rev. Sotero Sena will officiate. Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.

Pallbearers will be Alfonso A. Padilla Jr., Conrad Padilla, Chris Sanchez, Andy Garcia, Ricky Torres and Edward Padilla.
