Project: Reader Reaction
A recent Project: Reader Reaction question asked about goals for 2004: Some responses:
“I would like to get a couple more books published and build my small bead business up. I have been so busy the last month that I haven’t had a chance to get the letters off to the publishers or get the bead projects done that I would like to do. I am going to register for water walking at (Clovis Community College) and hopefully an English composition class to help my physical and mental health.”
— Ardyth Elms, Clovis
“Goals for the new year are simple: Try to be a better person than I was last year.”
— Jeff Greene
“The only goal that I have set solid is to be a better person in all that I do — work, play, or church.”
— Chuck Hemphill, Clovis
“My goals for the new year are to be better at what I do. I strive to be the best that I can every day. I am not too sure that I make it on some days.”
— John Frey, Clovis
“This year at some time I am expecting to shoot my age (85) in a round of golf.”
— J.W. McDonald, Clovis
“I don’t usually make New Year’s resolutions or set goals for the year. I don’t like to set myself up for failure. However, it’s hard to see if you are making progress if you don’t have a goal against which to measure. Changes which look like progress might not be in the direction that you want to go and therefore would take you away from goals which you really want to obtain. So, my first goal is to clearly define my goals for this year, and the second is to enjoy every step of the way! And then after that my most practical goals are to get more than halfway to being debt free and to have twice as many friends as I did last year!”
— Carolyn Spence, Clovis
“I have two goals this year, (not resolutions mind you). One: Graduating from Eastern New Mexico University in May ... Two: After graduation, earning the career job that I have been working so hard for.”
— Tanya Hughes, Clovis
“Be more patient and understanding. Be better informed about world and local events. Be more energetic in the rearing and education of my sons.”
— Frank Dalton, Clovis
“My goals for this upcoming year are to help others as needed, be there when called upon and do what is right as what I would expect in return.”
— Gerald Majewski, Clovis
