Tommie Kemp, 71, of Hereford died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at the Westgate Nursing Home in Hereford.

He was born July 5, 1932, in Gatesville, Texas, to Charlie and Velma Kemp. He married Brenda McGavock in Juarez, Mexico, in 1972.

Mr. Kemp owned and operated Kemp Supply Company in Hereford for more than 40 years and was still active in the business. He was a veteran, having served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Hereford.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda of the home; two sons, Marc Kemp of Gatesville and Thomas Kemp (and wife Donna) of Hereford; two daughters, Catherine Kemp of Edgewood and Stacy Kemp of Houston; a brother, Charles Kemp of Richardson, Texas; a sister, Mava Northcutt of Clovis; six grandchildren and a special dog, Mabel.

The family request memorials to Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospice, Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105 or Westgate Nursing Center of Kings Manor Retirement Home, 400 Ranger, Hereford, TX 79045.

Arrangements were under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford.

The Rev. Ted Taylor and the Rev. Ed Sweeney officiated at the service. The family was to have a private interment.
