O.T. Martin, 70, of Carlsbad died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at Carlsbad Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 24, 1933, in Clovis. He was raised outside of Clovis in Center, where he attended school and worked on a farm. At the age of 18, he went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad and worked there for 40 years until his retirement in 1991.

He moved to Carlsbad in 1958, and married Alice Ray on Sept. 14, 1965. He was a member of the international Brotherhood of Carmen for 40 years and, according to a family member, enjoyed collecting and trading guns and knives as well as hunting for arrow heads.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother Jimmie Daile Martin and a granddaughter Brittney Dunn.

Survivors include his wife, Alice of the home; two sons, O.E. “Gene” (and wife) Martin of Clovis and david Martin of Carlsbad; three daughters, Teresa (and husband Ron) Mosier of Carlsbad, Mary Ann Metcalf of Clovis and Gina (and Jedd) Zuniga of Carlsbad; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Friday. Cremation has taken place.

Denton-Funchess Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
