Hilda Arvizu, 90, of Roswell, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003.

She was born on Sept. 1, 1913, in Azusa, Calif., to Pedro and Ramona Romero.

She married Ruben Arvizu on Jan. 4, 1930, in Arvin, Calif. She was a resident of Roswell since 1976 where she was a homemaker. Family members said she was a very caring soul, raising numerous nieces and nephews as well as two granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three siblings, Pete Romero, Alex Romero and Catherine Flores; and a great-great-grandchild, Mackensey Walden.

Survivors include a sister, Priscilla Morales; three sons, Ruben Arvizu (and wife, Kay), Alfred Arvizu (Edith), and Benjamin Arvizu (Shirley); 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

The family will be at 708 West Buena Vista prior to the funeral and the Ramada Inn on West 2nd Street after the graveside service.

Burial will be at South Park Cemetery in Roswell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Roswell Hospice Home Care, Indigent Care Fund, 1107 South Main, Roswell 88201, or the donor’s choice.
