Ramona L. Patterson, 76, of Fort Sumner, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
She was born on March 10, 1927, in Fort Sumner, to Atilano and Rafelita Trujillo Baca.
She was a member of St. Anthony Church in Fort Sumner, Ladies’ Auxiliary and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Family members said she loved to play bingo, crochet, drink coffee and visit with her friends. She also loved caring for her grandchildren and her family. She attended Fort Sumner schools and worked as a waitress for local restaurants and at the Air Base in Fort Sumner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Rayanna Patterson; a son, James Patterson; and two brothers, Nicolas and Christopher Baca.
Survivors include three sons, Franklin Patterson (and wife, Myrna) of Fort Sumner, David Michael Patterson (Barbara) of Clovis, and Charles O. Patterson of Albuquerque; a daughter, Zina Patterson of Fayetteville, Ark.; three brothers, Joe Baca Sr. of Columbus, Ohio, Philip Baca of Lubbock and Atilano “GeGe” Baca Jr. of Clovis; two sisters, M. Alicia Vigil of Rio Rancho and Helen Baca of Denver; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A rosary was scheduled Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner.
Father Hoi Tran will officiate the services.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Ray and Lil Franklin Patterson, Alan Dunn, Bryan Vigil, Thomas Treen and Gerald Cline.
Honorary bearers will be all her grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Chavez Funeral Home of Fort Sumner.
