Arthur C. “Art” Morris, 83, of Clovis, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center.

He was born on June 21, 1920, in Larkinsville, Ala., to Mabel and Arthur Morris, Sr.

He grew up in Larkinsville, surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. He moved to Clovis in 1936 and graduated from Clovis High School. He worked as the bookkeeper for the Home Lumber and Supply Company before his Army service in Japan during World War II. When he finished his service, he returned to Home Lumber as bookkeeper and manager and retired after 40 years. Family members said he enjoyed annual trips with his uncle Joe to family reunions in Larkinsville held each Memorial Day, horse races, TV sports, family gatherings, politics and Dixieland jazz. He married Leota Stout in 1947. They were divorced in 1967. He married Gene Evelyn Adams in 1970.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Peg; and his wife, Gene.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Kempton (and husband, Steve) of Boise, Idaho, and Karen Mogg (Rex) of Plainview, Texas; an uncle, Joe Morris of Dallas; two sons, Bill Adams (Sue) and Tommy Adams, all of Clovis; a family friend, Nick Gonzalez of Clovis; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories Cemetery in Clovis.
