Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Police responded about 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 13 to a vehicle theft on the 1300 block of East Grand. Police determined that a furniture truck owned by a Clovis business had been left open while being unloaded and employees heard the truck being driven away while they were inside the warehouse.

Police later found the truck in an alley at Hall and Fifth streets. The passenger side of the truck was pushed up against the back yard of a house with the engine still running. About $2,400 worth of furniture was still inside the truck.

Residents in adjoining homes said they did not see the truck driver before he left the area.

High school staff members called police Oct. 31 to report that a 17-year-old male student had several bags of marijuana.

The student admitted to carrying a sandwich bag containing three sandwich bags full of a green leafy substance later determined by field tests to be marijuana. The student said the marijuana did not belong to him and that he was holding it for another person but would not disclose that person’s identity. Police reported they would obtain a warrant for the student’s arrest on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
