Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Two vehicles sustained heavy damage in a crash about 6:20 p.m. Monday on the corner of 21st and Thornton streets.

A 1991 GMC pickup was westbound in the left-turn lane of 21st Street while a 1994 Buick was eastbound in the left lane of the same street when the GMC tried to make left turn and collided with the Buick.

The Buick driver suffered a cut on the chin but did not require medical attention. Police cited the GMC driver for failure to yield.

A 53-year-old convenience store clerk called police about 9:15 a.m. Monday, reporting that two customers had taken her purse, removed $100 from it, and discarded the purse in the store bathroom.

The clerk said they gained access to her purse after telling her a soda machine was out of order, causing her to go and check the machine while leaving her purse at her work station.

A 19-year-old Clovis woman called police to the 1500 block of Edwards Street about 9:15 a.m. Monday, reporting that a cell phone had been stolen out of her car.

The woman said her car window had been broken the previous week and she had covered it with cardboard to keep out the elements.

The cardboard was cut open and the car doors unlocked on Monday morning.

The manager of a business on the 500 block of Commerce called police about 8:30 a.m. Monday to report that graffiti citing a Clovis gang had been written on his business over the weekend.

Police took photographs of the graffiti and entered the photos into evidence.
