WICHITA FALLS, Texas — Eastern New Mexico University’s volleyball team finished 1-2 in the Lone Star Conference crossover tournament over the weekend after a 30-25, 28-30, 30-22, 30-19 loss on Saturday to Central Oklahoma.
The Zias (5-9) opened the event on Friday with a 32-30, 30-28, 30-26 win over Southeastern Oklahoma, then lost a squeaker later on Friday to Cameron 30-22, 30-24, 32-34, 23-30, 15-10.
Kim Morgal collected 18 kills for UCO (9-4), leading four Bronchos in double figures in that category. Leading ENMU were Anna Bellum with 20 kills and Emilie Rodman with 11, while Kelley McGintry collected 23 digs.
Ashley Hemphill notched four of UCO’s 10 aces in the match. Eastern had seven aces, including three by Rodman.
On Friday, the Zias struggled to get past Southeastern, which came into the weekend with a record of 1-14.
Bellum had 22 kills and McGinty added 12 for ENMU. McGinty and Jessica Weeks each had 15 digs in the match.
Becky Wilson led the Lady Savages with 19 kills. She also collected 12 digs and three aces.
Against Cameron, Bellum had 19 kills and 28 digs while McGinty added 12 kills and 29 digs. Kelsey Kosick carried the Aggies (9-7) with team highs of 23 kills and 34 digs.
