Mr. Jack L. Hubby, 67, of Clovis, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, at his home.

He was born on Sept. 22, 1935, in Clovis, to Lon and Retha Hubby.

He married Susan Marshall on Feb. 9, 1978, in Amarillo, Texas. He worked for Circle K Corp, Town & Country in Wichita, Kan., the Clovis bus station and the Thrifty Nickel. He was owner of Designs by Hubby from 1989 until retiring in 1996. He was a member of the LMS support group and a friend and supporter to many Leiomyosarcoma support group members around the world. Family members said he was an avid reader and a friend of the Clovis Carver Library. He loved to play chess and bridge, never met a stranger and always had a smile and joke for his many friends, they said.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Kevin of Chandler, Ariz., Preston, Shannon and Steve, all of Clovis; two daughters, Shelly and Kaitlyn, both of Clovis; four granddaughters, Mercedes of Clovis and Bethany, Sherrie and Kimberely, all of Chandler; and four grandsons, Daniel of Allen, Texas, Michael and Trey, both of Moncks Corner, S.C. and Chris of Pottsboro, Texas.

The Rev. Dick Ross will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.

Pallbearers will be Shannon and Preston Hubby, Mike Wilson, Eric Wuest and Stephen Drake.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society specified for LMS research or Backmeyer-Hetherington LMS research fund at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Gift Processing, C/O Leslie Kerney, 1309 Beacon Street, Brookline, MA 02446.
