Ms. Jewel Wright, 96, of Belen, died Sunday, July 6, 2003.

She was born June 4, 1907, in Mississippi, to James Whinery and Leona Jones.

She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Belen where she was a dedicated Sunday school teacher for many years. In her later years, she became a member of the adult Sunday school.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Wright; three brothers; five sisters; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy; and a great-grandson, Ian Siri.

She is survived by a son, Don Wright (and wife, Elizabeth) of Utah; a granddaughter, Denise Siri (Ermano) of Reno, Nev.; four great-grandsons, Nigel, Jessie, Dylan and Sean Siri, all of Reno; a sister, Zenobia Brown of Roswell; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled for 9 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Belen.

Bruce Baker will officiate the services.

Burial will be at 3 p.m. today at Fort Sumner Cemetery.

Brother Coy Brewer will officiate the burial.

Arrangements are by Romero Funeral Home of Belen.
