KingsRiver to perform in concert

KingsRiver, a Southern Gospel quartet from Fort Worth, Texas, will be in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at Central Baptist Church, 2501 N. Norris St.

The group’s second visit to Clovis, KingsRiver will present a program of testimonies and songs ranging from the old favorites to the newer songs being heard on Gospel radio today.

KingsRiver, the Southern Gospel Music Association of Texas (SGMA) Group of the Year in 2002, consists of Dennis Davis, Randy Edmonds, Jon Cooper, Cliff Graves and Barrett Travis.

Davis, who also serves as the group’s manager, sings baritone and plays piano for the group. Employed by the advertising industry, Davis was named SGMA of Texas “Musician of the Year” in 1999. Along with being an accomplished pianist, Davis is a licensed minister. He has played piano and led music in area churches for most of his adult life.

Edmonds, who sings base, has been singing Southern Gospel music for a number of years and was previously a member of the Chapeltone Quartet, The Redemption Five, Swordsmen Quartet and the Texas Journeymen.

Originally from Clovis but now residing in Crowley, Texas, Cooper sings tenor. Cooper “grew up” at Central Baptist Church, where he was active in the youth program. He is a registered professional land surveyor and works in Fort Worth.

Also from Crowley, Graves began with KingsRiver as the bass guitarist. When a new lead singer was needed, Graves moved into that position. According to his family, Graves has been singing since the day he was born. He’s a salesman with a construction firm.

Newest member of KingsRiver, playing the bass guitar, is Travis. From Rendon, Texas, Travis, 17, recently graduated from high school. He is employed at a car dealership and expects to attend Bible college with the intent of becoming a missionary.
