Seven vie for fair queen title

Seven young ladies in Roosevelt County will compete in the 2004 Fair Queen Competition. The contests are divided into two portions: horsemanship and personality.

The following contestants will put to test their people and horseback-riding skills in an effort to claim their prospective crowns:

-- Amber Kinsey, 16, of Dora, who enjoys volleyball and is a member of Business Professionals of America, is competing in the Queen Contest. Her future goals include owning her own Christian Beauty Salon that focused on inner beauty. She would also like to adopt children from underdeveloped countries.

-- Adrienne Coe, 16, of Rogers, is a member of the National Honor Society and enjoys volleyball, basketball and track. She is competing in the Queen Contest. Her future goals include attending New Mexico State University for a degree in animal science and eventually going to veterinary school at Colorado State University.

-- Autumn Cathey, 10, of Dora, a member of the Causey 4-H and the Little Wrangler Jr. Rodeo Association, is competing in the Princess Contest. Her hobbies include playing piano, horseback riding and basketball among others.

-- Aubry Love, 11, of Portales, enjoys horseback riding, volleyball and track, and will compete in the Princess Contest. Her future goals are to become a veterinarian or a country Christian singer.

-- Rachel Cox, 8, of Pep, enjoys ballet and Blue Ribbon 4-H, and will compete in the Sweetheart Contest. One of her future goals is to dance as Clara in the Nutcracker Ballet.

-- Shila Love, 8, of Portales, enjoys cheerleading and playing horseshoes. Her future goals are to sing and become Miss Rodeo New Mexico.

-- Lindsey Lee, 7, who lives between Dora and Causey, is competing in the Sweetheart Contest. She enjoys soccer and roping and her future ambitions include horse training and high school cheerleading.
