Police blotter 7/13

Samplings of recent calls received by the Clovis Police Department, according to police reports:

Police responded at 10 a.m. Saturday to the 800 block of Connelly and found two pit bulls barking and growling at two residents of a home who were pinned up against their porch.

When the officer arrived, the dogs began charging the officer, who drew his shotgun to keep them at bay. The dog’s owner then came out, took them into the back yard, and tied them up.

Animal control confiscated the dogs and cited the owner for vicious dogs running at large.

A Clovis auto dealership called police Monday morning reporting that someone stole a tire and rim from a Mazda 626 that had been parked at the dealership. Witnesses provided a description of a suspect vehicle.

After a pit bull bit her owner’s 10-year-old daughter Monday afternoon at the 300 block of Rencher, police impounded the dog for 10 days of quarantine since it had not received its rabies shots.

The dog bit the daughter’s left thumb while she was playing with the dog, whose owner said is normally tied up in a fenced yard.

A Tuesday afternoon argument between a husband and wife at the 400 block of West 14th Street over how to discipline their teenage son led to the husband hitting his wife.

The husband admitted he hit his wife. The wife said the argument began when she spoke to her son about fighting, but the husband wanted to take over the matter and conduct his own discipline. The incident ended when the wife’s aunt was unable to pull the husband off her niece and called the police.

Police arrested the husband on charges of battery on a household member.

Police responded early Wednesday morning to a report that shots had been fired into a residence at the 1000 block of West 13th Street.

Residents and neighbors reported that shots went through the kitchen window and provided a description of a possible vehicle involved in the incident. An investigation found that two rounds had hit the house. One of the residents had tattoos indicating gang affiliation but said he is no longer involved with the gangs and wanted help from the police.

A four-wheeler rollover at the Spencer Field parking lot caused minor injuries to a 32-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl. Police, fire department, and EMS personnel responded but found that the driver and her passenger had minor injuries but did not require transportation to the hospital.
