ABILENE, Texas — A Clovis native-turned-educator has been named to the Hardin-Simmons University Hall of Leaders.
Henry Bryce Jordan, 78, will be honored by the university for his outstanding career and character, according to university officials.
Jordan was born in Clovis on Sept. 22, 1924, and his family later moved to Abilene, where graduated from high school and attended Hardin-Simmons for a year before joining the U.S. Army in 1942.
He taught at four colleges, include Hardin-Simmons University, and was president of the University of Texas at Dallas and Pennsylvania State University.
Jordan returned to Texas in 1991, retiring in Austin.
