  • City investigating accidental tornado siren activation

    Officials on Friday were still investigating the reason tornado sirens sounded accidentally throughout Clovis on Wednesday night. Police Chief Roy Rice said the error may rest with the law enforcement dispatch center. Rice said it's possible a dispatcher accidentally activated the sirens when calling for an ambulance. "We don't know for sure. We are waiting on a (technician) to come in and check out the system," Rice said.     Mary Virginia McNeill (Ginger), age 87, passed from this life to her heavenly home on December 19th. She was born in Amarillo, TX, but moved to Clovis as a child and graduated from Clovis High School in 1954. She married Monty Jack McNeill in 1955. They have had a wonderful life together for 68 years living in Clovis until 2010 when they moved to Ruidoso to be close to family. Ginger started singing in the church choir as a child.
