    CLOVIS – A Curry County Sheriff’s deputy on Wednesday was formally charged with shoplifting following a Sept. 9 incident at Clovis’ Walmart. Riley Loomis, 47, is accused of failing to scan 24 items into the self-checkout register. The items are valued at $126.95, court records show. Loomis has been ordered to appear in Clovis Magistrate Court at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 30.     Ninth Judicial District Attorney Brian Stover on Thursday filed a lawsuit in district court asking his name appear on the November ballot, though he admits he failed to meet the filing deadline. “We did everything we were supposed to do.     PORTALES -- An investigation is underway in the death of Arnold Candelaria at the Roosevelt County Detention Center. Roosevelt County Manager Amber Hamilton said in a news release Candelaria was found unresponsive at the center after 4 p.m. Tuesday. Emergency services were called for and they arrived on the scene.
