Not long after that, my dad, Winfield Pendergrass, moved his store stock from Texico to the new town of Clovis. His was called the Cash Racket Store in Texico and his was the first store to move out of Texico to Clovis, but a good many others soon followed. “I wa...

Jared Tucker The Independence Day weekend is here which means the patio table is set, the American Flag is flying proudly in the front yard, and it’s time to fire up that grill. So what are area officials and residents throwing on the grill this year? Clovis Fire Chief Ray Westerman said he likes a big hearty New York strip steak, which is the tender part of a porterhouse steak, according to www.recipetips.com. “It’s a good cut of meat,” said Westerman, adding a rib-eye steak makes for a good alternative. Clovis has trashed its polycart program. In response to near-unanimous public comment against a potential sanitation transition from alley trash bins to individual polycarts, the Clovis City Commission voted unanimously Thursday to terminate the plan. The city used about 1,700 units for the trial program. Service areas for those polycarts included houses in Colonial Park, along Fairway Terrace and inside an area enclosed within 21st Street and Plaza Drive and Main and Gidding streets. Public comments were accepted through...

Yard sales may seem like utter chaos to some people, but to us professionals we know there are serious rules a...
