    The Eastern New Mexico Amateur Ham Radio Operators Club in Curry County will contact other radio operators around the area in a mock emergency Saturday and Sunday at Clovis Community College. The weekend event is called the Amateur Radio Relay League. For recently retired Master Sgt. Jeff Hardy from the 27th Special Operations Wing, being a ham radio operator is a passion.     The Lady of the House gave me some bad news the other day: Our friendly shade tree has to come down. The tree’s roots are diving big-time into the family garden. This would explain why the tree had rocketed up in just a few short years. There’s lots of tasty stuff for it there like water and manure.   • Grocery store lawsuit settled out of court

    Freedom New Mexico A lawsuit against a grocery store operated by former State Rep. Brian Moore, R-Clayton, was settled out of court, Moore said. The suit was filed by the state’s Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on behalf of an applicant for employment at Ranch Market in Clayton. The $30,000 settlement, paid to the applicant, contains a denial of any fault or wrongdoing.
