In December 2011, their business was only an idea. By December 2012, they were all able to quit their other jobs.
Excellence House Cleaning and Janitorial has been operating since January 2012 under the direction of a a group of 20-somethings with one college degree between them.
Brothers Wesley, 22, and Wade Martin, 23, Anastasia Lutnesky, 21, and Sam Cantwell, 23, are all founders and owners of the company.

Excellence has been aiming to provide just that, as they have built a customer base in Portales, Clovis, and Cannon Air Force Base by providing house cleaning and janitorial services.
“Me and my two brothers Wade and Jared wanted to run our own business,” says Wesley Martin. “We discovered a cleaning business was financially feasible and didn’t require any specialized knowledge.”
Wesley Martin did however admit that they had to learn how to professionally clean.
“Once we started, we realized that none of us knew how to clean professionally. It took us about two months to perfect our operating procedure,” says Wesley Martin.
Wesley Martin says they did everything from scratch, from the design of the website to making their own invoices. Each of the owners has a specific role they play in the company.
Wesley Martin serves as the CEO and handles finances as well as the overall creative direction of the company. Lutnesky did all the graphic design for the website and advertisements.
Cantwell deals with all of the appointment setting and customer relations as the operations manager. Wade Martin is considered the jack-of-all-trades of the company by helping out where needed. Besides the operational duties of the four, all of them clean houses.
Cantwell says the toughest part of running a business is finances.
“I’ve always hated crunching numbers but business deems it always necessary,” Cantwell said.
Wesley Martin says on average they make between $4,000 to $5,000 a month.
The youth of the owners has definitely had an effect on the company’s image.
“We wanted to add personality to our business. And we are all spirituality and Zen enthusiasts so we decided we didn’t want to just clean homes, but make peaceful homes and peaceful lives,” added Wesley Martin.
