The Gattis 7th grade football team lost to Texico 34-14 on Aug. 24. Scoring for the Cubs were Braylon Weaver on a 50-yard quarterback keeper and on a 50-yard touchdown pass from Luciana Gallo, with Jacen Maes converting on a 2-point conversion.

In their second game, played on Aug. 29, Gattis defeated the Yucca Chaparrals 34-6 as Gallo scored three rushing TDs, Weaver added a touchdown and two 2-point conversions, and Bentley Lukkar scored. Meantime, the defense added a safety.

The Cubs were scheduled to play again on Tuesday at Lovington.
