Curry County seeking letters of interest for board

The Curry County Commission is asking for letters of interest from county residents who would like to serve on the County Valuation Protest Board.

The County Valuation Protest Board consists of three voting members and three alternates appointed to serve as voting members in the absence of a voting member.

The members are individuals representing the public, the state and the appraisal community. The Protest Valuation Board hears and decides any protest of valuation determination made by the County Assessor and makes a ruling based upon the evidence presented regarding the valuation of the property in question.

On May 23 the County Commission will be appointing the valuation board at their regular commission meeting.

The appointments will be of one member and one alternate who are qualified electors of the county and one member and one alternate who are qualified electors of the county and who have demonstrated experience in the field of valuation of property.

“Qualified elector” means any qualified elector or federal qualified elector who is registered to vote under the provisions of the Election Code. The term of each of these appointments will be for two years.

Those who are interested need to submit a letter of interest along with background information to Curry County Manager, Lance Pyle, 417 Gidding St., Suite 100, Clovis, NM 88101 or email [email protected] by no later than 5 p.m. May 12.
