Unoccupied structure catches fire

What appeared to be an unfinished, abandoned house sustained damage in a suspicious fire on Sunrise Boulevard in south Clovis Monday morning.

“It was a home that looked like a barn,” Clovis Fire Department Chief Mike Nolen said. “It was two stories. The upper floor and roof were completely damaged.”

Nolen described the blaze as suspicious in origin. He said the Clovis Fire Department is investigating the fire because no one was living there.

Nolen said three of the city’s fire stations sent personnel and equipment to the blaze that began around 8:15 a.m., station 1, station 6 and station 4.

Nolen said the blaze was put out quickly and there were no injuries.
