CLOVIS – Police on Monday located a 37-year-old woman wanted for questioning in the city’s latest homicide, but no arrests had been made in the case by Tuesday morning.
Officials had said Amanda Rodarte was not a suspect in the slaying of Manuel Rodriguez, but they hoped she would have information.
After talking with her, police Lt. Trevor Thron said she was not being held and “I don’t think she will be needed any further during the investigation.”
Rodriguez, 43, died Thursday in a Lubbock hospital after he was shot repeatedly on Wednesday.
A police incident report released Tuesday stated Officer Kendrick Navales arrived on the scene in the 900 block of Edwards Street about 4:30 p.m. last Wednesday in response to a call about a gunshot wound victim.
Navales said he saw a man on the ground surrounded by several people.
Navales saw the man was bleeding from along the left side of his ribs and chest. Navales rendered first aid along with another officer who applied chest seals to the wounds.
Emergency medical personnel transported Rodriguez to Plains Regional Medical Center and from there he was airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock.
In his report, Navales said he talked with nearby residents but none reported having information about the shooting.
The Rodriguez slaying is the fourth this year that Curry-Roosevelt county officials have investigated as homicides.
Suspects have been identified and arrested in the other three cases and are awaiting trial.
