Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Two Clovis doughnut shops along with area law enforcement personnel have joined together in a fundraiser for local Special Olympians.
“Dueling Donuts” involves Daylight Donuts and My Time Donuts.
Michael Brockett, Curry County undersheriff, said everything will wrap up with a “torch run” in June.
Brockett said last year the torch run started at the winning doughnut shop, Daylight Donuts, and ended at the Clovis Civic Center for the Special Hearts Prom. That prom is one for special education students.
Brockett said Dueling Donuts organizers are asking area residents to go to their favorite doughnut shop and donate,
“You’ll see the ‘Torch Icon’ and tell the cashier you want to donate,” Brockett said. “Donate a dollar or more and your name goes on the wall there at that shop.”
Brockett said last year $6,440 was raised. Funds raised go for such things as transportation and equipment for the area Special Olympics teams.
