One dead in motorcycle crash

CLOVIS -- An 18-year-old Clovis man died Thursday in a motorcycle crash.

Police identified the victim as Alex Casanova.

According to a Clovis police news release:

About 8:35 a.m. Thursday, first responders were called to the intersection of Seventh Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard for a motor vehicle crash involving a sport utility vehicle and a motorcycle.

On arrival, officers noted a dark in color GMC Yukon in the intersection, and a motorcycle on the ground west of the vehicle. Officers located Casanova, the motorcycle driver, on the ground at the front of the GMC Yukon. Casanova was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The Clovis Police Department Major Crash Team is investigating.

"The driver of the GMC Yukon is cooperating with the investigation," according to the news release.
