Retiring staff replaced

CLOVIS — Clovis Municipal Schools has hired James “Scott” Sparks to take over as deputy director of student support services, according to a release from the district.
Sparks, who is currently serving as the director of special education at Boulder Valley Schools in Colorado, previously spent 11 years in the Clovis district. Between 1997 and 2008, Sparks served in positions including assistant principal at Clovis High School, principal for Choices Alternative High School and the compliance coordinator for student support services.
Sparks began his education career in 1986, and also worked in the Las Cruces, Estancia, Hobbs, Tucumcari and Aztec districts. He holds a bachelor’s degree from New Mexico State University and a master’s in education administration from Eastern New Mexico University.
He replaces the retiring Carlyn Hancock.
