Chamber to discuss ordinance

CLOVIS — The Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce is planning an information meeting regarding the city of Clovis’ proposed sign code ordinance, according to a chamber release.

The meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. Jan. 3 at the chamber office at 105 E. Grand Ave., and participation is available in person or via Zoom. To RSVP, call the chamber at 575-763-3435.

The Clovis city commission has discussed the matter at two prior meetings, tabling the ordinance in November and voting for introduction Dec. 2. The ordinance is scheduled to appear on the Jan. 6 agenda.

The release says a chamber committee created for the ordinance is not opposed to the concepts of ordinance revisions or city cleanup, but have concerns about various sections in the ordinance and their potential impact on businesses and property owners.

Anybody who cannot attend the meeting is encouraged to send concerns to [email protected].

Regardless of how citizens participate in the process, the release encourages them to review the ordinance.
