Officials to mull road work

CLOVIS — The city of Clovis has $700,000 to spend on paving roads in residential neighborhoods.

At the city Public Works Committee meeting Wednesday, Public Works Director Clint Bunch said each district needs to select some roads that need repaving. Each district will have at least one paving project. Helping in the decision over what roads to prioritize, Bunch said, is a vendor called Roadbotics that drives and photographs every stretch of city road and assesses both overall condition and problem areas.

In other business discussed at the meeting:

• Bunch said the city has streamlined the permitting process for curb cuts and that is now a one-stop approval process and a one-page form.

• Staff announced a beautification meeting will be held 6:30 p.m. July 7 at the Roy S. Walker Recreation Center.

• The next public works committee meeting is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. July 28 at the North Annex of the Clovis-Carver Public Library.
