MULESHOE — A former Bailey County sheriff’s deputy was among three arrested Friday on felony drug charges, three weeks after they were detained at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Bailey County Sheriff Richard Wills told various media outlets Jorge Torres was on leave from the office for about a week, and was fired from his position on Monday. Torres, Marina Trevino and Blanca Salas were all arrested by the Texas Rangers Friday and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance between 3 and 400 grams. Trevino is Torres’ wife, while Salas is Torres’ mother-in-law.
Bond has been set at $100,000 for each of them. Trevino and Salas are booked at the Bailey County Jail, while Torres has been moved to another facility.
