Xcel announces Alexa integration

MINNEAPOLIS — Xcel Energy has announced Amazon Alexa integration for its customers.

The change will allow customers to ask Alexa-enabled devices for current balanced, bill due dates and prior year energy use comparisons. Customers can ask their device, “Alexa, link my Xcel Energy account,” to begin the process.

“We are excited to be collaborating with Amazon on this project to deliver the most user-friendly experience to our customers,” said Brett Carter, Xcel’s executive vice president and chief customer and innovation officer.

The company also has a partnership with Google, which allows customers to check balances and pay bills on dedicated devices.

Clovis theater reopening Friday

CLOVIS — After being closed for more than a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the North Plains 7 in Clovis will reopen Friday, according to a release from Allen Theaters.

The theater is one of three New Mexico locations the chain plans to reopen on Friday, along with the Aviator 10 in Alamogordo and Sierra Cinema in Ruidoso.

The chain had previously planned a May 14 reopening, but delayed it and others due to state gating criteria covering movie theaters. Allen reopened its Durango, Colorado location March 19 and re-opened various New Mexico and Arizona locations starting in April.

A social media post from the company said showtimes would be announced on its allentheaters.inc website.
