Webskowski named state's top RB

CLOVIS — Clovis senior Jeston Webskowski, following an impressive five-game spring slate, was awarded the NMPreps.com award as the top running back in New Mexico.

With Webskowski at running back for the Wildcats, and sometimes behind center for what is often dubbed as the “Wildcat offense,” Webskowski led the state with 740 rushing yards.

The University of New Mexico-bound senior had his most impressive game March 27 against Carlsbad, when he accounted for 346 yards of offense and five touchdowns without touching the ball in the third quarter.

For his career, Webskowski rushed for 2,545 yards — 10th in school history, despite losing at least half a season to the COVID-19 pandemic. He scored 43 career touchdowns, with 37 of them rushing.

All-state — Webskowski also received honors from the New Mexico High School Coaches Association, garnering one of 11 Clovis selections to the all-state 6A teams.

Webskowski was joined by linebackers Ernesto Acuna and Manuel Bustillos, defensive end Jaden Phillips, offensive lienman Johnny Jimenez, defensive lineman Kaleb Young and punter Zaden Lopez on the first team.

Second-team selections were Blake Muscato and Braiden Romero in the secondary, and honorable mentions went to defensive end Jaden Nigreville and receiver Robert Nora.
