Roosevelt County receives bomb threat

Sheriff says nothing found to substantiate threat.

PORTALES — Roosevelt County cleared its courthouse and magistrate court briefly Wednesday due to a bomb threat, Sheriff Malin Parker confirmed.

Parker said such calls sometimes come due to people not wanting to make court appearances, but that the county will take any such threat seriously.

The county was aided in its efforts by the Cannon Air Force Base Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, which did not find anything to substantiate the threat.

Parker told The News Friday his office is pretty sure on the caller’s identity, but probably needed more evidence to make a charge stand up.
