CCC joins workforce initiative

Clovis Community College has joined six other colleges around the country in an initiative called Building Resiliency in Rural Communities for the Future of Work.

A CCC news release stated the initiative “will increase rural colleges’ capacity to succeed with whole-college reform efforts, provide students with the workforce skills needed in today and tomorrow’s economy, and connect students with careers in the digital economy that pay family-sustaining wages.”

In addition to CCC, participating colleges are:

• Berkshire Community College – Pittsfield, Massachusetts

• Columbia-Greene Community College – Hudson, New York

• Halifax Community College – Weldon, North Carolina

• Louisiana State University-Eunice – Eunice, Louisiana

• Northwest Mississippi Community College – Senatobia, Mississippi

• Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College – Cumberland, Kentucky

“Clovis Community College is thrilled to be selected to join the Achieving the Dream initiative,” CCC President Dr. Charles Nwankwo said in the release.

“We are so honored to have been selected and look forward to this journey to ignite the future of education for CCC and its surrounding communities. This endeavor has the potential to open doors and job opportunities for our students who are preparing to enter into the workforce.”
