ENMU to add presidential inauguration to virtual commencement ceremony
November 22, 2020
PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University’s Portales campus will add the inauguration of President Patrice Caldwell to its already-scheduled virtual fall commencement ceremony.
Caldwell, who was named interim system chancellor and Portales campus president in April, had the interim tag removed by the ENMU regents in September.
The ceremony will be pre-recorded, largely at the KENW studios, and broadcast 10 a.m. Dec. 12 on KENW 3-1 and 3-2 and online at enmu.edu.
The university did a similar ceremony in the spring, and has held its fall semester virtually. Students have been contacted via email to submit photos for a slideshow that will accompany a credit roll of the fall graduates.
“Throughout the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, ENMU has focused on the safety of our students, our faculty and staff,” Caldwell said in a school release. “We received some great suggestions from the student body for this event and will be showcasing four of our honor graduates who will provide brief commencement addresses. We hope this event conveys our pride in our graduates and their accomplishments and creates a happy ENMU memory for them, their families and friends.”
