Man arrested in shooting incident

CLOVIS - Police early Sunday arrested a man suspected of being involved with a kidnapping and shooting.

Carlos Sanchez-Trillo, 31, was taken into custody without incident following a traffic stop about 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1900 block of East Howard Street, according to a Clovis police Facebook post.

Police said they were looking for Sanchez-Trillo after a 20-year-old male approached a city of Clovis employee Friday morning at the city landfill. James Faulkner had an apparent gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to Plains Regional Medical Center and later transferred to University Medical Center in Lubbock.

A warrant was issued for Sanchez-Trillo. Charges included kidnapping, aggravated battery, assault with intent to commit a violent felony, and possession of a firearm or destructive device by a felon.

The Sunday Facebook post said Sanchez-Trillo was being held in the Curry County Adult Detention Center.

We will have more information in Wednesday's paper.
