Chamber accepting videos for promotional project

CLOVIS — The Clovis-Curry County Chamber of Commerce is accepting video submissions from area residents for a promotional project they are working on. “Life in Clovis” will be a series of videos that feature short clips of different people, places, and lifestyles in the area.

The project is based loosely off of the “Life in a Day” documentary that came out in 2011 and can be found on YouTube.

Originally the Chamber was hoping to capture footage during events around Clovis. However, due to the pandemic and its effects on large gatherings being canceled, Chamber officials decided to source material for the promo video from locals.

“This is kind of our backup plan because we were going to create a longer promotional video using footage from exciting events and after-school activities. But right now those are pretty hard to get - at least current videos. So we’re going to be creating a shorter teaser video that eventually will turn into something bigger,” said Rachel Forrester, the Chamber’s public relations and communications manager.

A Monday Memo from the Chamber included information about the video saying, “YOU all are what make Clovis so special. So, please share your home videos, work videos, park videos, pet videos, CLOVIS videos … If you have something to share, we want to see it!”

Forrester said the Chamber is hoping to capture the “heart of Clovis.”

“Since the people are what make Clovis so special we’re really trying to capture anything and everything people want to submit,” she said. “We really just are hoping to get the heart of Clovis to shine through those videos. Nothing specific - but, the heart.”

Janine Fajardo with Plateau Telecommunications has been working with the Chamber to help complete the project. While there is no set format for video submissions to be in, the Chamber said that under Fajardo’s guidance they are hoping for videos to be in .MOB or MP4. Video submissions are not likely to be used in their entirety, but short clips from them will be edited into the longer promo video.

Only a few videos have been sent in from the community so far, but the Chamber is hoping that since there is no deadline for submissions they will keep coming in and multiple promos can be produced.

“We didn’t give a deadline. I think we’re hoping to get this first video done sooner than later, but it’s an ongoing marketing initiative,” Forrester said. “Overall our goal is to flood the internet with positive information about Clovis.”
