Up to voters to regain control of country

The First Amendment allows for “the right of the people to peacefully assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

The keyword here is peacefully. What we’ve seen in Omaha, Phoenix, Seattle, Chicago, New York City, Albuquerque and Portland, etc., has been anything but peaceful.

Three months ago, we all watched in horror as one rogue policeman used a choke hold to kill George Floyd. The nation was unified that something needed to be done. There were peaceful protests across the country that quickly deteriorated with individuals destroying the livelihood in their own neighborhoods.

To what end is this, a political movement or simply a desire to overthrow our Constitutional Republic?

Our police and federal law enforcement officials are denigrated. They place their lives on the line to protect the rights of We The People, yet there are calls to defund or eliminate them. When are we going to stand up against these calls for anarchy?

I believe many citizens do not agree with the demands of Black Lives Matter and Antifa. All lives matter — Black, white, Hispanic and Asian.

This year an opportunity exists to voice our concerns be we liberal, conservative, Republican or Democrat. It is up to us to regain control of this country from the counter-culture movement.

Our students should learn the truth about our history, both good and bad. We do this through the ballot box. It is our right and responsibility to educate ourselves on the candidates’ positions, not simply which party they represent, and send representatives to Washington, D.C., who are going there to represent us at both the federal and local level.

Without our participation, society will slowly be eradicated, one right at a time. Hopefully, it is not already too late.
