• La Casa Clovis Back to School Backpack Drive — 5:30-7:30 p.m., La Casa Family Health Center, 1521 W. 13th St., Clovis. Free Covid-19 testing and backpack distribution. Participants should stay in vehicles and be patient. One backpack per child while supplies last. Children must be present to receive backpacks. Covid-19 testing is not required to receive a backpack. • Ladies Tea hosted by Christian Women Connection — 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Living Word Church of God, 2101 E. 21st St., Clovis. Tickets $10 prepaid; seating is limited. • Summer Food Service Grab and Go Program provides free nutritious meals to children 18 and under in Clovis, Melrose, and Portales, 9:30 a.m.-noon Mondays-Fridays. Sponsored by La Casa Family Health Center and administered by New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department, and the United States Department of Agriculture. Clovis locations: Clovis High School, CHS Freshman Academy, Marshall Middle School, Yucca Middle School, Lincoln-Jackson, Barry Elementary School, Arts Academy at Bella Vista, Highlands, James Bickley, La Casita, Lockwood, Parkview, Sandia Elementary, Zia Elementary, Highland Park, Hillcrest Park, Doc Stewart Pavilion, Wendy Plains, Cameo Elementary, and Sunset Trailer Park. Melrose location: Melrose Schools. Portales locations: Portales High, Brown Early Childhood Center, James Elementary, Valencia Elementary, Lindsey-Steiner, ENMU Greyhound Arena, and City Park. First-timers should bring all the children who will receive a meal throughout the summer. Each family will receive a card to be shown at pick-ups.
