Portales to tackle committee recommendations

PORTALES — The Portales City Council will tackle recommendations from its economic development finance review committee when it meets Tuesday evening.

The 6:30 p.m. meeting will be broadcast online due to state public health orders banning mass gatherings, and will be available on the city’s Facebook page.

The committee met Friday, and is bringing forward public participation agreements for COVID-19 relief program grants and a resolution authorizing a second round of COVID-19 economic relief program applications for eligible business.

The council will also consider two ratification requests — one from City Manager Sammy Standefer on a grant to the Portales Municipal Airport, the other from Mayor Ron Jackson on a CARES Act memorandum between the city and the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
