Clovis decides on virtual graduation

CLOVIS - With circumstances still unclear on the future of mass gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic, Clovis Municipal Schools has decided to lay the foundation for a virtual Clovis High School graduation ceremony.

There is no specific date listed for the event, but a school district release notes the final footage will be released after June 19, the last day the state has set for seniors to meet graduation requirements.

Seniors will receive appointments to be individually filmed receiving diplomas between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Appointment notifications will be sent via student school email, Skyward Family Access and the parent email listed in Skyward.

Students and families are required to observe the following requirements on campus:

• All family members other than the senior must remain in the parking lot and cannot exit the vehicle. The estimated time each student will be on campus is 10 minutes.

• Students must wear a mask whenever they are outside of their vehicle, but they will be permitted to remove the mask when they are filmed receiving their diploma.

• Once the filming is complete, the student and family must immediately leave campus.

Students will receive an opportunity to pick up yearbooks and photos that were purchased prior to arrival, along with their senior yard signs, according to the district.
