Man receives 32 years for child sex offense

CLOVIS — A Clovis man was sentenced to 32 years in prison on Wednesday after pleading guilty to multiple counts of criminal sexual penetration for a sexual offense against a child.

Dino Paul Lucero, 36, of Clovis, was sentenced to 32 years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections.

According to a news release from District Attorney Andrea Reeb:

"Due to concerns over the COVID-19, the victim was not allowed to be present in the courtroom but her mother provided a statement to the court.

'“I can’t begin to tell you how much this has affected us. My daughter is broken ... I can’t fix this,'” the statement read.

Lucero had been in custody since his arrest on July 19, 2019. Reeb said he must complete at least 85% of the sentence.
