Fair to feature Gold Star wall

CLOVIS — The Curry County Fair will feature an exhibit honoring those fallen in recent military conflicts, according to a county release.

The Gold Star Tribute Wall, a 67-foot memorial, will be on display Aug. 13-15 at the Curry County Fairgrounds to honor fallen militay from the Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

The 16 upright panels making up the wall are covered with gold stars marking the name of the fallen, the branch of military and the years of service.

“Curry County is proud of the men and women who have served and currently servicing in our armed forces,” County Manager Lance Pyle said in a release. “The Gold Star Tribute Wall is a reminder of sacrifices that have been made in the Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan wars. It’s a humbling display.”

Anybody wishing to submit names for the wall can visit tributewall.org/criteria for submission requirements.

The 100th Curry County Fair will run Aug. 11-15. Admission will be $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and $3 for children 3-12.
